Magnetawan Real Estate

The town of Magnetawan is located on the Magnetawan River between Lake Cecebe and Ahmic Lake which are both part of the Magnetawan River waterway system, and the home of the famous Magnetawan Spring Smelt Fry. A lock and dam system were built here on the river to allow steamboats to travel further down the river from the railway station at Burk's Falls. The locks officially opened on July 8, 1886 and are still in use today.

The Municipality of Magnetawan covers an area of approx. 523kms and a population of 1610 (2006 census). In 1998 the Municipality of Magnetawan was formed which amalgamated the the Townships of Chapman, Spence and Croft.

Lake Cecebe has over 20 miles of shoreline and the communities of Midlothian, Cecebe. Rockwynn, Port Carmen and Magnetawan can all be found on the lake. Topographical Map showing the location of lakes etc

Ahmic Lake is well marked for navigation, there are many spots where rock shoals extend into the lake then plunge to depths of 60 to 80 feet. Much of the lake has steep shorelines with overhanging dead wood and rock outcroppings. The most popular species for anglets on the lake are walleye and pike. Ahmic Lake is approximately 19km long and connects to two smaller lakes, Neighick (also known as Beaver Lake) and Crawford Lake.

Ahmic Harbour is a small town located on the northern edge of Ahmic Lake just off Hwy 124, and contributes to the economic well being of the area
